“We Are All Just Passing Through” – The Rebel Vision of Marco Valoti

Marco Valoti, a nomadic artist and restless spirit, embodies in his art the deep sense of transience. For him, travel is not just a means of moving through space but an existential condition, a way of living and creating.

From Milan in the 1970s to the farthest corners of the world, his journey has been marked by a rejection of conventions and a constant desire to explore cultures, histories, and identities. Among the places that have profoundly influenced him, South America played a crucial role. Numerous travels to this region left a deep mark on his art, imbuing it with a strong respect for nature and local traditions. His works are permeated by the atmospheres and emotions experienced during these encounters, where the beauty of the landscape and the connection to the land became a continuous source of inspiration.

“To move is not just to travel physically, but also to break down mental and cultural barriers.”

His involvement in the Spostamentista Movement, founded in 1985, reflects this vision: art as a flow, as a process in constant development, open to participation and contamination. Public performances, interactive installations, and works that challenge passive observation become tools to tell stories of resistance, memory, and dignity.

By rejecting mass tourism and its homogenizing dynamics, Valoti strongly advocates for an authentic experience of the world, based on real encounters, observation, and listening. His sketchbooks, filled with sketches and reflections, are testimonies of a nomadic existence that seeks not fixed roots, but ever-new meanings.

In an age dominated by speed and individualism, his art reminds us that we are all travelers on this earth. The question he leaves us with is: how do we choose to traverse our journey?
