Between 2000 and 2002, I created a series of hand-printed linoleum engravings on 300g paper (25×30 cm) in memory of Louis—a sincere, kind-hearted man who left an indelible mark on my life. Louis was 78, a gentle soul with a quiet determination. Every morning, I would find him seated by his struggling tomato plants, head inclined as if praying for their growth. The poor soil offered little hope, but Louis never stopped nurturing them. A local restaurateur passed by daily, inspecting the tomatoes that never seemed to ripen.
